BCS Standings Released: Longhorns Up To Number Two, Gators One
The new BCS standings have just been released and the Florida Gators are again the top team. The surprise of the new standings came at number two, where Texas surpassed Alabama.
The Longhorns had a convincing win against Oklahoma State on the road in a game that not only vaulted Colt McCoy to the top of the Heisman race, but put Texas in that coveted number two spot. The top two teams in the BCS standings will play for national championship.
Alabama did not even play on Saturday and they dropped in the BCS. It shows just how fickle the standings can be and also how important each game is to the standings. The Crimson Tide will have a chance to impress this week when they host number nine LSU.
Iowa survived their match up with Indiana, and they held their number four position. Cincinnati may a surprise jump, up from number eight to number five. The other team that jumped a few spots was Oregon, who went to number eight after beating USC.
TCU and Boise State, two teams from non-BCS conferences remained in position to crash the BCS party. TCU pitched a shootout Saturday, and is number six, and Boise State is right behind at number seven.
Georgia tech rounds out the top ten. The Yellow Jackets have emerged as the favorite to win the ACC, and they are the team that controls their own destiny in the quest to reach the ACC championship game.
USC dropped out of the top ten after their second loss of the season. The Trojans were dominated by Oregon late Saturday night.
