BCS Standings: Texas Moves To All Important Number Two
The BCS standings were set for a shake up on Sunday after Oklahoma throttled number two Texas Tech on Saturday night. The question was who would benefit most from that win and move up to number two in the rankings.
The answer comes as a surprise to many prognosticators. Texas, a team that had the week off, moves up to number two, setting up a possible controversy coming down the stretch.
Many believed that it would be Florida who moved up behind Alabama to number two. They had a big win also Saturday, but they were overlooked by the BCS. The Gators are number four.
Oklahoma was the other team many expected would be number two. They won convincingly, but a loss earlier in the season to Texas may have kept the Longhorns ahead of them in the BCS.
USC is still lingering around the top of the standings. They are the number five team, and could still reach the title game with some help from the teams above them.
Utah has jumped all the way up to number six in the rankings. They are angling for a spot in a BCS bowl game, and it appears that they will achieve that goal.
Big games upcoming include Florida State against Florida, and Oklahoma State against Oklahoma. Those games will be followed by the Big Twelve and SEC championship games.
