Bears And Saints Playing For A Trip To The Super Bowl

New Orleans started the season with 200-1 odds to win the Super Bowl, now after a magical season, anyone holding one of those tickets will be holding their breath on Sunday as the Saints have defied the odds and reached the conference championship game.

The Bears, on the other hand, were picked before the season as Super Bowl contenders, and they have delivered, posting the conferences best record and now just one home victory away from advancing to the Super Bowl.

The teams took similar roads to this game with the Saints coming off a bye week and holding off the upstart Philadelphia Eagles last week, and the Bears needing overtime after their bye week to defeat the Seattle Seahawks.

New Orleans seems to have borrowed the Cowboys "America's Team" slogan as much of the country will be pulling for them on Sunday because they are a feel good story after the devestation in their home state caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Chicago, though, will not be in a giving mood, as they will be trying to return to the Super Bowl for the first time since they won the title in 1985, a span of 21 years.

The Saints, of course, have never won a title.

The game will feature several storylines. One will be the play of Bears quarterback Rex Grossman, and whether he will show up and perform as a championship quarterback should, or whether he will wilt under the pressure and play a sub par game as he has several times this year.

The second angle will be whether the Bears 1st ranked defense can stop the heralded Saints offense. The answer to these two questions could provide us with an idea of who will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Game time is at 3:00, and the current line is Bears -2 with a total of 43.
