Betting Against Favre Return? Think Again, Jackson Hurt

Brett Favre is never really going to go away. That was proven this weekend when the Minnesota Vikings opened training camp. Even though Favre said he would not be returning this year, something was sure to happen that could change his mind.

That something almost occurred just a couple days into camp. Tavaris Jackson, the most likely starter at quarterback, sprained his MCL. Luckily for the Vikings, and the rest of NFL fans, the injury was later found out to be not that serious.

This will be a daily occurrence in Minnesota this season. Every time one of their quarterbacks gets dinged up, all eyes will shift to Mississippi and Favre. It will begin with injuries, but it will continue if the play on the field is sub par.

Every interception thrown will mean another call for Favre. The distraction without him in camp may grow even larger than if the future Hall of Famer was in camp.

The Vikings players will have to fight through this distraction. This is a team that won their division last year without Favre, and has a quarterback in Jackson that outplayed Favre down the stretch.

Minnesota can win with the team they will put on the field come week one. They may even be the favorites in the NFC. One of the only things that can derail that prognostication is a continued eye on Favre with every slight bump and bruise.
