Bluemoon Entertainment Drops Bodog.com Sportsbook Lawsuit
Bodog appears to have dodged another bullet as LA-based Bluemoon Entertainment has decided to withdraw its lawsuit against the offshore sports gambling website due to the Bodog's offshore status and lack of U.S. assets.
The lawsuit, which was filed last April in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges several causes of action against Costa Rica-based Bodog, Bodog Entertainment Group and CEO Calvin Ayre.
The lawsuit also named Costa Rican entity Riptown Media, a marketing company based in Vancouver, Canada, that apparently serves Bodog and its related companies.
"This case was not dismissed on the merits," said plaintiff attorney David Beitchman of Beitchman & Zekian. Statements made by Bodog lawyer James Nguyen of Foley & Lardner in a news release dated August 9th refer to the case as "frivolous" and "baseless."
Unless more comes out on this story, it looks like Bodog is in the clear for now.
