Bryant And The Lakers Proving Sports Books Right Early In Season

Sports books put out gambling odds before the season starts in all sports predicting who will win the championship. In the NBA this year, their consensus pick was the Los Angeles Lakers. So far, they look accurate in their prediction.

The Lakers have started the season like they have something to prove. It appears the team is playing with a chip on their shoulders after a devastating championship series loss last year to the Boston Celtics.

This year, they have a healthy Andrew Bynum, who looks better than ever predicted, and Kobe Bryant and company look every bit the champions that sports books are predicting they will be.

In the season's first six games, they have won by less then ten points only once, Tuesday night against the Mavericks. Outside of that game Los Angeles has won their other five games by an average margin of over twenty two points.

On Wednesday, the Lakers get their next test. They have already beaten Portland and Houston, but on Wednesday they get a team in New Orleans that many feel can compete with L.A. for the top spot in the Western Conference.

Should the Lakers come out of the Hornets game with a road victory, there will be little doubt in anyone's mind that the NBA could be heading towards a repeat of last years finals. Boston again looks like the team to beat in the East and if both teams stay healthy, it could be another Lakers-Celtics finals.
