Buffalo Bills Gambling On Gailey To Lead Turnaround

The Buffalo Bills have been the doormat of the AFC East for the better part of the last decade. On Tuesday, Buffalo took another step towards what fans hope will be a turnaround for the once-proud franchise.

Last off season, the Bills made headlines by bringing in the future Hall of Fame receiver that nobody else wanted. Their signing of Terrell Owens made national headlines, although it did not end with a positive outcome on the field.

This off season, the Bills have taken runs at some of the biggest names in coaching, the latest of which was Super Bowl winning coach Bill Cowher. He turned down the job, as did several other high profile coaches.

That left the next group of possible candidates and out of that group came Chan Gailey. Gailey will be taking over the head coaching job in Buffalo, saddled with the pressure of turning around one of the NFL's worst performing teams in the past ten years.

Gailey was most known for his stint as coach of the Dallas Cowboys. His results were mixed in Dallas, ending his tenure with an 18-14 record. The team went to the playoffs in both years that Gailey was the coach.

His other major head coaching experience came with Georgia Tech. The yellow Jackets became one of the most feared teams in the country under Gailey. The new coach claims he will also serve as Buffalo's offensive coordinator.
