Cardinals Relishing In Gambling Underdog Role For Super Bowl
The Arizona Cardinals are no strangers to being underdogs. Experts have not given them much respect for the entire season. The Super Bowl, however, is different. It is the public that is counting Arizona out this time.
The betting line for Sunday's game has Pittsburgh as a seven point favorite. The line has not moved since it opened at that number, but the growing opinion of the public is that the Cardinals do not have a chance to win this game.
The Cardinals have no problem with public perception. They were underdogs at home against Atlanta to open the playoffs. They were then double digit underdogs against Carolina in the next round, and they were underdogs again at home against Philadelphia in the NFC championship game.
The Super Bowl will just be the next game in a month long string where nobody thought the Cardinals could win. Everybody, that is, except the Cardinals themselves. They are an extremely confident bunch that could care less who thinks they can win.
The two teams arrived in Tampa on Monday afternoon and the circus that is the Super Bowl is now in full swing. Whether or not the crazy atmosphere affects Arizona or not will not be known until Sunday. One thing is certain, the point spread will not be a factor in how the Cardinals play.
