Cavaliers Surging Towards Home Court, But Lakers Still A Good Bet
At this point in the NBA season teams want to start playing their best basketball. They have battled all year long for playoff positioning, and the team that gets hot from here on out usually walks away with the championship.
The Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers have been in top form for nearly the entire season. The two teams have battled for the top spot and home court advantage throughout the playoffs for many months.
Now, it is put up or shut up time for the two teams, with just nine games left to play. Cleveland looks like the team playing better and holds a two game lead after Sunday's games, but it still may be too early to count out the Lakers.
There are two main reasons why L.A. fans can still hope to make up the ground necessary in order to not have to face a similar scenario as last year. They have the easier schedule down the stretch and they earned the tie-breaker over Cleveland by sweeping the season series.
The Lakers learned how important home court advantage is. Many believe it was the determining factor in last year's finals with the Celtics. The way the Lakers have played with focus all year long shows just how important they believe having home court advantage is.
The Cavaliers also have high incentive to secure the home court. They have played the entire year this year with season ticket holders having to endure only one home loss.
Although that loss was to a potential finals opponent in the Lakers, it does not take a genius to figure out how difficult a game seven task in Cleveland would be. With only a few weeks left in the season, buckle up, it could be an exciting ride.
