An earthquake hit Canada on Wednesday, and the effects were felt all the way to Cleveland, Ohio. The earthquake, however, did not provide even a portion of the tremors that will occur should LeBron James leave his hometown.

The earthquake was measured at 5.0 on the Quebec-Ontario border. The fact that it reached Cleveland could be considered foreshadowing considering that many of James' dunks the last few years could have been measured on the Richter scale.

"I felt tremors today, but they were nothing like what they experienced in Canada," said Mark Belvin. "The last thing that this city needed in this economy would have been a catastrophic natural disaster, although losing LeBron would feel like that."

Belvin was obviously joking when comparing the earthquake to James, but it does show just how wrapped up Cleveland residents are in the upcoming free agency period for James and other NBA stars. For a city that has not won any major titles in decades, losing LeBron would be devastating.

James has yet to give any indication whether he is planning on leaving Cleveland. Other cities with teams in the NBA have started all-out campaigns to bring LeBron to their city. Cleveland is banking on the fact that James is from Ohio, and the city is hoping he is loyal to his hometown.

Online sports books have placed betting odds on where James will be playing basketball when next season starts. Cleveland is still the betting favorite, at -150. Chicago is second, with odds of +150. The Knicks have odds of +200 to sign LeBron, followed by the Nets at +400, the Heat at +600, and the Clippers at +1000.
