College Basketball Betting Changes With Injury To UConn Guard
When a major player on one of the best teams in the country gets hurt, betting odds for the rest of the season are going to change. It does not matter the sport, not many teams can afford to lose one of their top stars and not miss a beat.
That is the situation that the University of Connecticut college basketball team is in. Point guard Jerome Dyson was lost to injury this past week, and he has indicated he may have to miss the rest of the season.
"If they (doctors) can go in and repair my knee, I'll probably end up missing the rest of the season. The recovery period from that (surgery) is about four months," said Dyson.
The injury comes at an inopportune time for the Huskies. They are currently ranked number one in the country and have been playing some of their best basketball of the season as of late.
The injury will have a wider impact than just the teams on the court. The future betting on which team will win the championship might change as well. North Carolina has been playing exceptional basketball and the injury could make the Tar Heels the favorites down the stretch.
Dyson is one person, however, that is not believing his injury will change the fate of the team. "I feel we're still championship quality," he said.
