College Basketball Betting Preview: Kentucky Nears Number One Seed
The Kentucky Wildcats are a college basketball program that has as much history as any school in the nation. The past couple of years, however, have been forgettable for fans and players alike. That has all changed in less than a year.
Coach John Calipari has brought his enthusiastic approach to the Wildcats, and now has his team on the verge of a number one seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament. Calipari had led Memphis to the top of college hoops over the past several seasons.
Known for his ability to take players to the next level, Calipari has worked magic with his young Wildcats. The wins have piled up in his first season as the head coach, and fans have visions of this team delivering Calipari his first national championship.
On Sunday, Kentucky finished their regular season with a win over Florida. That put the Wildcats at 29-2 and 14-2 in the SEC. They won the game bu eight, but it was much closer than the final score indicated. Kentucky went a perfect 18-0 at Rupp Arena.
The conference tournament begins this week in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Wildcats will enter as the number one seed. They clinched the regular season title on Saturday after Vanderbilt lost to South Carolina.
If Kentucky wins a couple of games in the SEC tournament, they most likely will be headed towards a number one seed when the NCAA field is announced next Sunday. For Calipari, that will be familiar territory, but for Kentucky fans it will be return to the glory days and the prevailing thought that Kentucky basketball is once again back on top.
