College Football Betting Odds: Gators Again In For A Battle

The Florida Gators were the choice of most experts to win another national championship this season. Their reputation for being great is the reason that voters have stuck with the Gators throughout the early part of the season despite below average play.

Florida has not played a complete game yet this year, and if that does not change soon, they may play themselves right out of the title hunt. This week, they travel to Jacksonville to play Georgia.

The Bulldogs are one of the middle of the road SEC teams this season. Those are the teams that have given the Gators the most trouble. The past two weeks, the Gators survived at home against Arkansas, thanks to some suspect officiating, and then barely escaped on the road against Mississippi State.

Georgia has more talent on their roster than both of those teams, yet they have shown the ability to play at a high level for extended periods of time. To beat Florida on Saturday, the Bulldogs must play a full sixty minutes of football.

The Gators still have tough tests down the road, but with each win they get closer to playing in the title game for the second straight year. Anything short of a title would be considered a failure for the Gators, and that added pressure may be one of the reasons that Florida appeared tight in some of the earlier games.

The closer they get, the more focused this team will become. Saturday provides another opportunity to give voters what they yearn for, a dominant number one team in college football this year. Whether or not the Gators have it in them or not is the question that will be answered tomorrow.
