College Football Betting Odds: Gators And Bearcats In Sugar Bowl
The Florida Gators and the Cincinnati Bearcats were just one Saturday away from meeting each other in the BCS title game this season. The Gators lost to Alabama that day, and Texas survived with a last second field goal, dashing both teams' championship dreams.
Instead of playing for college football's top prize, the Gators and Bearcats will meet tonight in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. The two teams also have another similarity heading into the game, their coaching situations are up in the air.
The Bearcats lost their coach after he completed a perfect regular season. Brian Kelly bolted from Ohio to Indiana to become the new head coach at Notre Dame. Cincinnati players were upset with the lack of truthfulness Kelly showed them in the last weeks of his tenure at the school.
At Florida, their loss to Alabama seemed as though it had the makings of an end of a dynasty. If that was not bad enough for Gators fans, the hammer dropped less than a week ago when head coach Urban Meyer announced he would be leaving the school.
Meyer cited health reasons, and the next day backtracked to say that he was only taking a leave of absence, not walking away for good. Still, some believe Meyer's change of heart was only to ensure Florida did not lose any recruits from the 2010 class.
The Sugar Bowl, consequently, has become home to some intriguing stories heading into tonight's game. Can the Bearcats find the strength to win without their coach. and can the gators overcome the emotion of possibly losing both Tim Tebow and Meyer in the same year?
