College Football Betting Odds: Georgia Tech Can Lock Up ACC
The college football season only has a few regular season weeks left, and that is when teams start locking up berths in their conference championship games. Today, Georgia tech can punch their ticket to the ACC title game with a win over Duke on the road.
The Yellow Jackets have been the most consistent team in the ACC all season long. They have not lost since an early season game in Miami, and they take a 9-1 record into their game against the Blue Devils.
Georgia Tech received a scare last week at home against Wake Forest. They won the game in overtime after the Demon Deacons failed to capitalize on a scoring opportunity at the end of regulation. Now, the only team that stands between the Yellow Jackets and a shot at an Orange Bowl appearance is Duke.
This will not be an easy game for Georgia Tech. The Blue Devils have championship aspirations of their own. If Duke should beat Georgia Tech today, and Miami beats North Carolina, the Blue Devils and Hurricanes would meet for the Coastal division title next week in Miami.
The Hurricanes are the only team to beat Georgia Tech this season, but they gave up control of their own destiny a couple of weeks ago at home when they lost in overtime to Clemson. The Tigers are the front runner to make it to the ACC title game after beating FSU last week.
The Hurricanes should know their fate by the time they take the field at 3:30 PM in North Carolina. The Georgia Tech-Duke game is at noon. Even if Georgia Tech secures the ACC title game berth, Miami could end up in a BCS game with some help. They are currently ranked #14 in the BCS standings.
