College Football Betting Odds: Hurricanes Home 'Dogs To Sooners

The Miami Hurricanes have certainly had a roller coaster season so far when it comes to public perception. On Saturday, the Hurricanes swing back to the bottom of the pendulum by being home underdogs against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Coming into the season, the Hurricanes were unranked and many experts believed there was a strong possibility that Miami would start the season 0-4. Their first four games were against Florida State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma.

Then, after the first two of those games, both Hurricanes wins, pollsters had Miami as the number nine team in the country. There was talk of a national championship for the team and a Heisman Trophy for quarterback Jacory Harris.

The next week, the Hurricanes traveled to Virginia to face Virginia Tech. The weather was poor, slowing what looked like an explosive Miami offense, and the Hurricanes were manhandled by the Hokies.

Fast forward to the latest polls, and the Hurricanes have slipped back to number seventeen. They host the Sooners tonight in the last of a four game gauntlet, but odds makers believe their magic may have run out.

Miami is a seven point underdog at home tonight. This is even without Oklahoma having their greatest offensive weapon, Heisman winner Sam Bradford. Bradford is not recovered fully and will not start against Miami.

The Sooners have responded well since a season opening loss to BYU. Their defense has athletes all over the field, and analysts believe they will give Miami's offense fits much like Virginia Tech's did. The total for the game is 51.5.

The season lies in the balance for the Hurricanes. If they save face and defeat the odds, like they had in their first two games, they may once again find themselves a top ten team come Monday morning. If they lose, they will have wasted a magical start.
