College Football Betting Odds: Texas A Five Touchdown Favorite

The Texas Longhorns find themselves in a peculiar situation when it comes to their championship hopes. They are the number two team in the BCS, but it appears they may not even play for their own conference championship.

In order to secure a chance at that conference title game, they must do what they are expected to do today against rival Texas A & M. They need to win, and win big. The Longhorns are a 35.5 point favorite to win the game.

The win big part will not mean much in the standings in the Big Twelve, but it will count in the human polls. They have the national stage to themselves tonight and they could sway some voters if they can handily defeat the Aggies.

Florida and Oklahoma will both get their chance later in the weekend to impress voters. The Gators and the Sooners are playing teams that are ranked in the top twenty five. Florida goes to Gainesville to play rival Florida State, and the Sooners play the Cowboys of Oklahoma State.

The chances are strong that no matter what Texas does tonight, if both of those other teams win on Saturday, there could be some shuffling of the BCS. Ironically, Texas has their only hope of winning their division pinned on an Oklahoma win.

"The fact that Texas will have to root for their hated rival Oklahoma will be fascinating. If Texas wants to win a national championship they basically need Oklahoma to win on Saturday. that creates great irony," said football analyst Greg Herman.
