College Football Betting Preview: Longhorns Looking For Title Shot

The Texas Longhorns seem to be in this situation on a yearly basis under coach Mack Brown. The Longhorns go into tonight's Big Twelve championship game with an opportunity to punch their ticket into the national championship game.

Texas was on the outside looking in last year and had to watch Oklahoma win this game on the way to their title chance. Tonight, however, the eyes of college football fans across the US will be focused squarely on the Big Twelve title game.

Texas is a heavy favorite in the game over Nebraska, but the Cornhuskers have more than enough weapons to make this a competitive game. For Nebraska to win, they must figure out a way to stop Heisman hopeful Colt McCoy, while putting up enough points to on offense to hang with the Longhorns.

Other teams will also take a big interest in the game. Cincinnati won a thriller this afternoon against Pittsburgh to wrap up their perfect season, and a win by Nebraska could put the Bearcats in the title game with a little help from the pollsters.

The SEC runner-up, either Alabama or Florida, will also need a Cornhuskers win. There are some analysts that believe that a one loss SEC team would stay ahead of Cincinnati in the final BCS standings.

Whatever these other teams will be hoping for, Texas will have the ability to control. A win tonight puts the Longhorns in a position to win their first national title since Vince Young was playing quarterback. A loss, and bedlam will break out in the BCS.
