College Football Betting Preview: Oklahoma And Texas In A Matinee
Oklahoma and Texas have been two of the premiere college football programs of the past decade, so forgive analysts if they get giddy when speaking about the game this afternoon. Once again, the Longhorns and Sooners have stolen the Saturday spotlight.
Although the game today at high noon will not be a top five match up as previously expected, it still has plenty of meaning. Texas won the game last year, but watched Oklahoma play for a national championship. They have title aspirations this year, and know this game is critical to their chances.
The Sooners have been somewhat reeling this year and have not found their comfort zone. They lost opening week to BYU, and lost Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford to injury in the process. They then regrouped and won a couple of games in a row.
Oklahoma's next test would come on a Saturday night against a Miami Hurricanes team that they beat by forty plus points last year. They failed that test, with the retooled 'Canes giving the Sooners their second loss of the season.
Now, Oklahoma is at a crossroads. They still have not played a conference game, and if they beat Texas they will be in a position to again run the table and play for a conference title. if they lose, they will have three losses and the season will be a failure.
Texas, on the other hand, is the number three team in the country and has not lost yet. If they can get by Oklahoma, they would be in a position to not only play for a conference title, but maybe a national championship.
