College Football Bowl Betting Odds: Gambling Begins This Weekend
This time of year is reserved for holiday cheer for many people throughout the world, but is is something else that happens this time of year that excites gamblers. College football bowl season begins with a trio of games this weekend.
All year, college football teams grind through a short twelve game season. Their rewards for their success of that season comes in the way of a bowl invitation. The better they played during the year, the bigger the bowl they play in from the middle of December through January.
For six teams, their rewards will come this weekend. Although they may be little, unknown games for a majority of the country, gamblers will most certainly be tuned in. The college football bowl season is one of the most popular gambling times of the year.
On Saturday, Wyoming and Fresno State will kick off bowl season this year. Fresno State, according to the odds makers, will emerge victorious. They are favored by 11.5 points over Wyoming. The total for the game is 55, suggesting a high scoring affair.
That game will be followed by Central Florida and Rutgers. Greg Schiano and his Rutgers team will enter this game as the betting favorite. Central Florida is a 2.5 point underdog, and the total for this game currently sits at 44.
On Sunday, there will only be one game played, as the NCAA does not like to interfere with the NFL schedule too often. Southern Mississippi is a 4 point favorite over Middle Tennessee State. Again, odds makers are predicting a shootout, with the total at 58.
