College Football Picks: Ohio State Playing In a BCS Game?
The Texas Longhorns feel that they should have been playing in the national title game on Thursday. They fell just short in the final BCS standings, leaving Florida and Oklahoma to play in the big game.
The Longhorns will instead play tonight in the Fiesta Bowl. Their opponent is a rather peculiar choice in Ohio State. The Buckeyes had two losses this year and looked horrible in both of those games.
While many teams were left out of the BCS games, Ohio State somehow found a way to slide into one of these games. They played two other BCS teams through the course of the season and were defeated by Penn State and USC.
Utah has just beaten Alabama to cap off an undefeated season and they had to sweat out their appearance in that BCS game. Ohio State, on the other hand, seems to have a right of passage to these games every year.
The past two seasons, they played in the title game, only to get wiped out both times, yet the voters keep bringing them back.
Texas comes into tonight's game with a chip on their shoulder over being left out of the title game. The outcome could be similar to the Penn State and USC games for the Buckeyes. Even with another crushing loss, the chances are good that Ohio State will be back again next year, playing in another BCS game.
