College Football Picks: South Carolina And Illinois

The Florida Gators are looking like they are currently the best team in college football. They have started drubbing their opponents and look as though they will be a formidable opponent for Alabama in the SEC Championship game.

South Carolina is a team that many experts thought would have a breakout year. Steve Spurrier knows how to coach winners, and this is the year he was supposed to turn the Gamecocks into national contenders.

As has been the case in recent years, Spurrier's team started off slowly and played themselves out of national contention, but they still have something to play for on Saturday. Pride.

Spurrier knows the field he will be coaching on all too well. He won a national title at The Swamp, and he is considered to be the most revered coach in Florida history. Urban Meyer may someday take that thrown, but has not as of yet.

South Carolina coming in with that extra motivation could provide the next surprise of this college football season. If Iowa can win against Penn State, then the Gamecocks certainly have the athletes to defeat the Gators.

In another match up that could result in an upset, Illinois faces Ohio State. The Buckeyes have played well in games that do not involve USC or Penn State, but Illinois poses some match up problems for the Buckeyes.
