College Football Ranking: Missouri Creeping Up On Voters
All that anyone needs to know about the state of competitive balance in college football these days is that Ball State is ranked in the top twenty five, and the Miami Hurricanes have fallen completely off the football radar.
Ball State entered the rankings in the Associated Press poll for the first time ever. They are ranked number twenty five, with voters acknowledging their 6-0 record.
At the top, Oklahoma won big on Saturday and remained the number one team in the land in both the AP poll and the USA Today poll. The two polls differ on who they see as the second best team in the country. The AP has Alabama number two, while the USA Today has Missouri second.
The Tigers defeated Nebraska handily on Saturday night, and it now appears that they are for real again and looking to make a run at a national championship. Alabama also had a big victory on Saturday.
LSU is also above the Crimson Tide in the USA Today poll. They are number three in that poll and number four in the AP poll. Texas is number five in both polls and could be in the best position of any of the top five teams to run the table with their schedule.
The big game next week will once again be in the SEC. LSU will get their second test of the season when they travel to The Swamp to face the Florida Gators. The Gators could put themselves back in the national picture with a win over the Tigers Saturday night.
