The college football betting world this week will be on mainly a bunch of games in which the favorite has large odds to defeat the underdog. The first week is filled with games that have top ranked teams getting a final workout in before the heavy competition comes their way.

On Thursday night, two of those ranked teams got their openers out of the way. The Miami Hurricanes, ranked number thirteen, and the Ohio State Buckeyes, ranked second, both had easy times with their respective opponents.

Ohio State opened at home against Marshall, and unlike the days of Byron Leftwich and Randy Moss, this Thundering Herd team did not come with much offensive fire power. The Buckeyes easily defeated Marshall, and will now turn their attention to a storm brewing in South Florida.

The Hurricanes opened their season at home Thursday against Florida A & M. The Rattlers proved to be nothing more than a glorified scrimmage for the Hurricanes, Miami won the game 45-0, and will begin preparations for Ohio State next Saturday.

The Hurricanes and Buckeyes have not met since what some believe was a phantom pass interference call cost Miami their sixth national championships. Since that game, the Hurricanes have slid while the Buckeyes have played for several national titles.

Gamblers will have their eyes on the Miami, Ohio State game next week. It is an opportunity to get a read on which team will be a national power as the season moves along. The Hurricanes are looking to return to prominence, and Ohio State is hoping to simply stay on top of the college football world.
