College Football Season Kicks Off on Thursday Night With #2 LSU

The college football season ended last season with the Florida Gators beating Ohio State and becoming national champions, now it is time to begin the search for a new champion as the 2007 season kicks off on Thursday night.

Four top 25 teams are slated to start their season off Thursday among the 11 games that are scheduled in division one football, so fans will find out right away how good some of the top programs in the country are.

Most notably, LSU, the number 2 team in the land will open its season on the road in a conference match up against Mississippi State. LSU was considered by many the best team at the end of last year, but the loss of the NFL's #1 draft pick Jamarcus Russell could hurt the Tigers chances.

Rutgers was last years Cinderella story in college football, a team that had been the bottom feeder for a long time, but last year they almost climbed all the way to the top of the food chain under coach Greg Schiano.

This season, the Scarlet Knights will not sneak up on anybody, as they go into Thursday's home opener against Buffalo ranked #16 in the country.

Other top 25 teams in action Thursday are #10 Louisville, who will host Murray State, and #24 Boise State, who hosts Weber State.

Boise is coming off a BCS bowl win over Oklahoma, a team they beat with multiple trick plays throughout the game.

Thursday and Friday have 11 and 2 games, respectively, and then Saturday has a full slate of games, with most division one teams kicking off their seasons.
