Colts Finally Solve Patriots And Head Off To The Super Bowl
Indianapolis has been widely considered the most talented team in the AFC for the past few years, however, they always stalled out in the season's biggest games, and most of the time against the New England Patriots.
Sunday seemed to be no different for most of the first half as the Pats took a 21-3 lead into the final minute of the half. New England was once again dominating the Colts and appeared headed toward another Super Bowl.
Then the Colts went on a long drive to end the half that resulted in only 3 points, but the momentum must have swayed during that drive because the Colts came out of the locker room after halftime and put on an offensive display that sent them to their first Super Bowl birth under coach Tony Dungy.
Peyton Manning, who had the label of not being able to win the big game, was spectacular the whole second half, and, when the game was on the line, he led the Colts down for a game winning touchdown with less than a minute left on the clock.
Tom Brady and the Pats got the ball back with under a minute but this time the NFL's golden boy could not pull off a last minute miracle as he threw an interception to end the game and seal a trip to Miami for the Colts.
The Colts will now face the Chicago Bears in the Super Bowl after Chicago blew out New Orleans earlier in the day.
Even more remarkable for the Colts was that they completed the improbable comeback with their star receiver Marvin Harrison on the sidelines for most of the second half after getting injured.
