Colts Over Bears In The Super Bowl, According To Oddsmakers

Oddsmakers have a field day with the Super Bowl, they put up odds on almost anything the mind could imagine, pertaining to the big game. The ultimate odds are still, however, the game itself, and the Colts are favored by 6.5 points over the Chicago Bears.

The game line has opened at 6.5 and has stayed the course as the week has gone on. Peyton Manning and his teammates have won over the minds of the betting public with their strong playoff run and now must deal with pressure that comes along with being favored to win the game.

Chicago is the underdog, but they believe that they have what it takes to bring home the Lombardi trophy. No one can argue to the contrary after the Bears were the best team in the NFC this year and played consistantly throughout the playoffs. The defense is still playing at a championship level, just as they have all year, and it now appears that the offense has risen to that level over their two playoff games.

The total for the game is 48.5, which means that oddsmakers plan for it to be an offensive shoot out. That could be a dangerous number if the two defenses continue to play the way they have since the playoffs began.

Some of the other things the oddsmakers have put odds out on are, who scores the first touchdown of the game, yardage totals for some of the games stars, amount of touchdowns, sacks, turnovers and field goals for the game, and which team will win the coin toss.

Super Bowl Sunday is the single biggest gambling day of the year, attracting even the most casual of football fans. As the game has grown, so has the amount of money being gambled on the game around the world.
