Could Terrell Owens Shift AFC North Betting Odds In Bengals' Favor?

The Cincinnati Bengals won the AFC North last season, beating out the defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens in the process. To repeat, the Bengals were going to have to improve this off season.

One of those improvements could come at the wide receiver position. Reports indicate that the Bengals have made an offer to free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens. If Cincinnati signs Owens, he would be paired with another dynamic wideout, Chad Ocho Cinco.

The Ravens added former Arizona wide receiver Anquan Boldin earlier this off season, making them the betting favorites to win the division this season. An Owens signing may tilt the odds in the favor of the Bengals.

The Steelers are the third team expected to contend in the North. Pittsburgh had one of its rockiest off seasons in recent history, and the result was a trade of former Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes, and a suspension of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

If the Steelers can navigate through the first four games of the year without Roethlisberger, they would have a chance to regain their position on top of the division. The defense will get All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu back this year. Before Polamalu was hurt last season, Pittsburgh was in first place.

The Bengals held on to win the division last year despite playing poorly down the stretch. Their troubles continued in the playoffs, when they were ousted by the New York Jets. New York ended up in the AFC Championship game, but lost to Indianapolis.
