Defense is King According to Point Totals in NFL This Week
For the past several years point totals in the NFL have been indicative of the high powered offenses supplied by teams around the league. This year however, the league has bucked that trend and turned more towrds defense than offense.
This weeks games have totals ranging from 33.5 to 48. However, 10 of the 14 games have totals that are below 42 points.
The highest number on the board is the Monday night Green bay at Philadelphia game with a point total of 48.
The lowest number resides in the Baltimore-San Diego game, where two dominating defenses bring the total all the way down to 33.5.
The Cleveland-Oakland game also has a total of 33.5, but that is more a sign of two horrible offenses rather than strong defense.
There are three games with a total of 34.5, Minnesota at Buffalo, Jacksonville at Washington, and Seattle at Chicago.
The other games above 42 are Indianapolis at the Jets 46.5, Detroit at St. Louis 43.5, and New England at Cincinnati 46.
