Derby Winner Big Brown Heavy Gambling Favorite At Preakness

The Kentucky Derby is the first stage of horse racing's triple crown. In order to be considered a serious contender to win the triple crown, a horse must perform well at the Derby.

That was taken care of by Big Brown as he ran away from the field down the stretch to win the Derby. Now, the horse is the overwhelming gambling favorite to win stage two, the Preakness.

The odds are so strong that Big Brown will win, that a gambler must bet two and a half times more than they will win. The odds are 13-5 currently.

The next closest horse to Big Brown is Behindatthebar, at 7-1. That is a huge drop off from the favorite to the number two pick in a horse race. Gayego is next at 8-1.

Kentucky Bear comes in as the forth choice at 9-1. After that, there is another jump in the odds. Yankee Bravo is a 15-1 choice.

Four horses are in the twenty to one range. Icabad Crane and Riley Tucker are both 20-1. Hey Byrn is 25-1, and Macho Again is 28-1.

Four horses are classified by sports books as the long shots. Racecar Rhapsody, Giant Moon, Stevil, and Tres Borrachos are all 30-1.

This is the 133rd running of the Preakness Stakes. Should Big Brown emerge victorious, he would then go for the triple crown in three weeks at the Belmont.
