DeWyze And Bowersox Locked In Gambling Battle Over Album Success

Gamblers have spent the last month trying to figure out which American Idol would win season nine. The finale offered up Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox, with DeWyze being the favorite. Even after the competition has ended, the online gambling continues on the two American Idol stars.

DeWyze went on to win this past week, and immediately the focus of both finalists turned to releasing their first album. Online sports books such as Bodog have kept the American idol betting alive this weekend.

Bodog is offering a proposition bet on which Idol finalist will have their album debut higher on the Billboard 100. DeWyze is the betting favorite, with gamblers having to $250 to win $100 should DeWyze' album debut higher.

Those who believe that Bowersox's first album will rate higher, can receive odds of +170. Bowersox was the favorite to win American idol for much of the season, but the singer lost momentum during the final couple of weeks.

Voting for American Idol does not always go as the judges would have predicted. according to all four judges, Bowersox outperformed DeWyze in all three rounds that were sung during the finale. Fans, however, chose DeWyze.

"The betting odds on the albums have much to do with the momentum that DeWyze will carry from winning," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. "Sports books do not care about popularity necessarily, but they do care about making money, and these odds indicate that DeWyze' album should debut higher than that of Bowersox."

In the coming months, sports books will shift their focus back to sports as preperations are already under way for the giant betting platform that is the World Cup. Odds on winning are available for all thirty-two teams that will participate in the World Cup starting in two weeks.
