Divisional Game Point Spreads Prove To Be Too Much For Favorites
The talent level between two NFL teams can usually be determined by the point spreads on any given Sunday, however, when teams in the same division play, these point spreads go out the window, as was the case in several week 2 games.
VIPSports
had point spreads of three divisional game favorites, Denver-10 against Kansas City, Philadelphia-3 against the New York Giants, and St. Louis-3 vs. San Francisco, and all three teams failed to cover the spreads, with two of the three losing the game outright.
Philadelphia had the Giants seemingly defeated in the fourth quarter when the Giants held on a forth and one which changed momentum and eventually ended in a 30-24 Giant victory.
In Denver, the Broncos escaped with a victory over the Chiefs 9-6 in a game closely contested by two bitter AFC West rivals, in which both teams used to piling up points, battled in a defensive struggle.
St.Louis traveled to San Francisco and for the third straight time came away with a loss to the 49ers 20-13.
The results of these games just go to show that when teams are playing within their divisions, the motivation can sometimes overcome the lack of physical ability.
