Do Not Bet Against Michael Phelps To Win All Eight Gold Medals

Michael Phelps is in the midst of an Olympic run that may never be equalled again. Whether you are a fan of swimming or not, time must be taken out of your day to appreciate what Phelps has been doing in the pools of Beijing.

On Friday morning Phelps was again in his element which is standing on the top podium listening to the American National Anthem being played. He won his sixth gold so far in six chances when he finished first in the 200-meter individual medley.

He has raced in six finals so far in Beijing and not only has he won gold in all six events, but he has broken world records in all of them as well.

Now comes the question that everyone will be trying to answer. Can he win the next two events and break Mark Spitz' record of seven gold medals back at the 1972 Munich games.

Phelps has already become the record holder for most medals by an individual in a career at the Olympics. It does not appear that he will be stopped in either of his last two races.

Phelps, from Baltimore, will try and win his last individual event on Saturday and if that goes well the last one should be a breeze on Sunday. He and his teammates will be the odds on favorite to win gold in the 400 medley relay.
