The Philadelphia Phillies have had something missing this season. The two-time defending National league champions struggled for much of the year, and they have dealt with a rash of injury's that has left them depleted at many positions.

One of those injury's came Tuesday night to center fielder Shane Victorino. The Victorino injury has opened the door for one of Philadelphia's prize minor league prospect to make his first appearance in the big leagues.

Domonic Brown has received the call from the big club and is in the lineup on Wednesday evening against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Brown will try to do something Roy Halladay has been unable to accomplish, lifting the Phillies to the top of the National league East.

Atlanta has been the betting favorites in the East since the beginning of June. The Braves played as good as any team in the league for two months, and their pitching staff has performed even better than expected. Atlanta has struggled lately, opening the door for the Phillies, Mets, and Marlins to climb back into the race.

Brown could be a difference maker with Philly. In Double A, Brown hit .317, with 15 homers in 65 games. Since being promoted to Triple A, Brown has hit .392 with 4 home runs in 12 games. The Phillies are hoping he will spark what has been a dormant offense for much of the year.

The trade deadline is this Saturday, and there is no guarantee that all the current Phillies will be with the team when the deadline passes. Outfielder Jason Werth was the most likely to be moved, but those plans may change after the Victorino injury. The Phillies would still like to acquire another starting pitcher to help them down the stretch.
