Early NFL Championship Game Gambling Odds: Eagles, Steelers Favored
The Pittsburgh Steelers were fully preparing to be playing in the AFC championship game when they entered the playoffs. After the first three games of this weekend, it looked as though visiting team destiny was going to stop them from achieving their goals.
In Philadelphia, they were just happy to make the playoffs a couple of weeks ago. They needed all sorts of help in the final two weeks of the regular season to get in.
Now, with just the two championship games left to play before the Super Bowl, the Eagles and Steelers will be trying to make the big game a battle for bragging rights in their home state of Pennsylvania.
With the last divisional game just completed, odds makers have already gone to work for next week. Their early betting lines have the Steelers favored at home, and the Eagles favored on the road.
Arizona is a team that many experts did not believe would still be around at this point in the playoffs. They have defied the odds, so being a home underdog in the title game will serve as continued motivation.
On the AFC side, the Baltimore Ravens have lost in the closing seconds twice this season already to the Steelers. They are hoping that the old wives tale of it being hard to beat a team three times in a year holds true.
Pittsburgh is favored by 4.5, with sportsbooks predicting a low scoring game. The total is 33.5. In the NFC, Philadelphia is favored by 3, and the game total is 48.
