Fantasy Baseball Gambling Draft Moves Paying Off Early In Season
Every fantasy baseball owner has their players that they keep an eye on in the draft. Players who can make an impact if they have that breakout season. This year was no exception.
Several players were available on draft day at low prices, and if an owner took a gamble on them, they would be sitting pretty in their standings early in this season.
Brian Bannister is one of those such players. He came into the year not well known, but for owners who knew what he was capable of, it has been pure reward. So far this season he has been one of the dominant pitchers in the game.
Cliff Lee is another of these pitchers. Although Lee pitched most of last year, nobody could have guessed that he would be the top fantasy starter at any point this year, but as the calendar turns to May, he still has the best numbers.
On the offensive side, there also are a couple of players who have come out of nowhere. Last year, it was Ryan Braun. This year so far, it has been Nate McClouth. He has been a spark plug at the top of the Pirates line up.
Giovanni Soto of the Cubs has also been a surprise. He is putting up big numbers from the catching position, much like Russell Martin did last year.
As the season wears on, the usual suspects will rise to the top of both the pitching and hitting categories like they always do. It is the surprises that can endure the long season, however, that will make or break an owners reputation for finding talent.
