Fantasy Football About Gambling on Injuries This Far Into Season

Play at Full Tilt Poker!

Only a few weeks remain in most fantasy league regular seasons, and while some teams are fighting to make the playoffs, others are jockeying for playoff position, but all have one thing in common, injuries.

If an owners team has avoided injuries at this point in the season, they should consider themselves lucky, but if they avoid them from now until the end of the year, they should consider it a miracle.

With injuries playing such an important part in the game of fantasy football, it is important to note the key players that were drafted high, and may not be around to help their teams with a late season push.

Larry Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs had his stock drop slightly by his hold out, but he was still taken in the top five picks in almost every fantasy draft, but now, the running back did not play last week and is not playing this week, and anyone relying on their first round pick can forget it.

Also injured is Denver running back Travis Henry, who was taken high in most drafts simply because the Broncos have pumped out 1000 yard rushers in the Mike Shanahan era, but much like the situation with Johnson owners, Henry owners have watched their top pick sit on the bench for much of the past month.

Many players are banged up and these two examples are just a couple of the examples as to how difficult it is to survive fantasy football without key players, and the hope is that owners of these and other injured players got to their back ups before others did, or else it will be no playoffs and on to the off season for many owners.
