Fantasy Sports Gambling A Hot Topic Among Legislators In US
Usually when something is generating millions of dollars it will not be long before the government tries to get their share of the action. that is what is happening in several states where legislators are trying to ensure that online fantasy sports gambling is legal for their residents.
The fantasy sports industry has grown into a multi million dollar operation. What used to be a battle for bragging rights has turned into a competition for big money. People in all walks of life are participating in fantasy sports in the US.
"I play in several different fantasy leagues and there is a lot more than bragging rights at stake. I want the ultimate satisfaction of winning, but I'm also in it for the money," said Greg Hrunery.
Hrunery is not alone. It is estimated that over twenty nine million people played fantasy sports last summer in the US. In six states, however, players cannot collect the prizes they win from playing fantasy sports online.
Maryland is one of those states and legislators are hard at work trying to correct that mistake. They are trying to pass legislation to ensure that fantasy sports are no longer considered illegal.
Fantasy has become much more than just statistical results as of late. A couple of websites are devoted to stock type trading with people able to buy shares in their favorite athletes.
