Final Four Betting Odds Released: Kentucky The New Favorite
The NCAA Tournament always provides a tough backdrop for gamblers, and this season it has been a nightmare for bettors who like to play the favorites. Usually the upsets come early in the tournament, but this year they have continued through the Elite Eight.
This past weekend, all of the remaining number one seeds were bounced from the tournament. Instead of the usual suspects, Kansas and North Carolina, the Final Four this season will feature Virginia Commonwealth and Butler.
The elimination of Kansas and Ohio State over the weekend, left Kentucky as the new betting favorite to win a championship this season. The Wildcats have a coach in John Calipari that has now taken three different teams to the Final Four, although he has never won the title.
Kentucky will lock horns with a team that is higher ranked, Connecticut, but it is the Wildcats that are the favorites. The Huskies are a two point underdog in one semi-final match up. The total for the game is 141.
In the other game, analysts are still trying to wrap their minds around the idea that either Butler or VCU will be playing for a title. It should come as no surprise to anyone that Butler has reached the Final Four, they played in the championship game last season.
Butler is a 2.5 point favorite over VCU. Being slighted by odds makers is nothing new for VCU, as they have been underdogs in every game they have played so far in the tournament, and they have come out on the winning end of all five of those games. The total for this game is 133.5.
