Gamblers May Not Get Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight Without Drug Test

In a bizarre twist, the highly anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao may be off. Mayweather's camp wants Pacquiao to agree to Olympic-type drug testing leading up to the fight, and Pacquiao's camp is balking at the idea.

Boxing used to be the biggest gambling draw in the country. Lately, there have not been many high profile matches for gamblers to get excited about, but this would be one for the ages.

Up until this week, it seemed as though the fight was inevitable. These two boxers are two of the greatest to come along in the last two decades, and the interest was reaching a fever pitch. Even Jerry Jones wanted in on the action, and lobbied to host the fight at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium.

Las Vegas eventually won out, as it does with most fights, and the match appeared set. Then, Mayweather's camp dropped the bomb on Pacquiao.

"There is no fight without Olympic-style random drug testing," said Mayweather's Manager, Leonard Ellerbe. The camp stopped short of accusing Pacquiao of cheating with performance enhancing drugs in the past, but claims that this fight would be too big not to ensure a fail fight. Pacquiao's trainer, Freddy Roach, quickly added fuel to the fire.

"I will not let my fighter take a blood test the day before a fight," said Roach, as reported by The Associated Press, "If they give me a five-day window or something like that I have no problem with it. He's (Mayweather) looking for a back door out. We're eager to fight."

If the fight does occur, it is expected to become the highest grossing boxing match of all-time. The MGM Grand would be the host, and the pay-per-view numbers are expected to shatter previous records.
