Gamblers are always on edge when they have money riding on a sporting event. When one of the games is delayed for more than a couple of minutes, it can be highly stressful for those who have placed large wagers on the event.

On Monday, the Texas Rangers game against the Cleveland Indians was delayed for more than fifteen minutes after a fan fell from the upper deck. The scene played out during the fifth inning of the game with the fan reaching out to catch a foul ball.

The extent of the injuries are unknown, but Rangers Executive Vice President/Communications John Blake reported that the fan was stabilized at John Peter Smith Hospital. Blake also announced that the fan was able to respond to paramedics and that he had movement in all of his extremities.

It was a scary situation, and one that has played out several times in recent years at ballparks across the US. Four other fans were treated after the incident on Tuesday, but they were taken care of at the stadium. The fan that fell had reached out for a foul ball that hit in section 235 and then went back towards the field.

After play resumed, the Rangers continued what they had started before the accident. Texas had been beating up on Cleveland pitching all night, and Vlad Guerrero was again the catalyst for the Rangers. Guerrero has been exchanging the RBI lead back and forth with the Tigers' Miguel Cabrera for the past couple of weeks.

Texas is one of the betting favorites to win the American League West this season. With the Angles struggling to find offense, the Rangers have taken advantage of a lineup that routinely scores tons of runs. Texas is considering adding a pitcher before the trade deadline to help down the stretch in a pennant race.
