Gambling On Yankees May Be Risky Proposition For Bettors
The New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels resume their American League Championship Series tonight in the Bronx, and game six will have gamblers on the edge of their seat. The Yankees were favored in the series, but they are in danger of being pushed to seven games.
The Angels come into tonight's game knowing that they are playing on borrowed time. They blew a four run lead in game five, but managed to rebound nicely and score three runs of their own to force the series back to New York.
The pressure now sits solely on the shoulders of the Yankees. New York was a team that was built to win a championship. They signed C.C. Sabathia and Mark Teixeira to big free agent contracts, and both may play big roles in the rest of this series.
Tonight, New York will send Andy Pettite to the mound. If he should fall short in his effort to close out the series, the seventh game assignment would be given to Sabathia. He has already pitched well in two games he has started in the series.
For Los Angeles, the postponement of yesterday's game may help them in their quest to steal the series. They will thrown Joe Saunders tonight, and now have the ability to bring back John Lackey on three days rest for a possible game seven.
The Angels bats have been quiet for much of the series, but woke up in game five. It will now be up to them to bring their top game two more times. In the meantime, gamblers' emotions will be hanging in the balance.
