Gators And Volunteers Set For Showdown In Knoxville
The Florida Gators and Tennessee Volunteers have grown accustomed to playing games with SEC and national championship implications. Over the past few years, the rivalry has lost some of its luster with both programs down from their usual national powerhouse status. in fact, the teams have not met while both ranked in the past five years.
That will change on Saturday later today when the Gators travel to Rocky Top to face the Volunteers. Florida and Tennessee are both undefeated after two games, and are also ranked going into the big match up. The winner of this game will shoot to the top of the SEC standings, and will put one team in position to compete for the division title.
The national spotlight will be on the game, and odds makers have made the home Volunteers a three point favorite. The Gators have been uneven in their wins this season. In the opener, Florida survived a scare from Bowling Green. They then rolled into Texas and defeated new SEC member Texas A&M.
In the other big SEC game, Alabama will travel to face Arkansas. The Crimson Tide is a 20 point favorite on the road after dominating their first two opponents. Alabama opened the season with a thrashing of Michigan.
Penn State, a program that has been mired in controversy all year, will look to get their first win of the season when they host Navy. The Nittany Lions are five point favorites.
In the ACC, Florida State will receive their first test of the year when they host Wake Forest. The Seminoles are 24.5 point betting favorites. FSU has beaten Murray State and Savannah State in their first two games.
