Giants, Eagles Prevail Involving Battles Of NFC East Foes
The Giants came into their game on Sunday at a crossroads in their season, a win over the Redskins would vault them back into the hunt for the division title, a loss, would almost devestate their chances.
The Giants defense insured that the latter did not happen as they stifled the Redskin offense and defeated Washington 19-3 at the Meadowlands.
Philadelphia was facing the return of Terrell Owens to Philly, but that did not much matter as the Eagles offense was again unstoppable and the Eagles won the game 38-24.
The game was a hard fought battle that had the outcome in doubt until Lito Sheppard intercepted a Drew Bledsoe pass from the Eagles 3 yard line and returned it 102 yards for the clinching touchdown with less than a minute to go.
The Eagles now hold first place in the division with a 4-1 record. The Giants and Cowboys follow with a 2-2 record, and the Redskins bring up the rear at 2-3.
