Giants, Jets Hoping for New York State of Mind
The New York Giants head into their playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles with one thing in mind, redemption. The Giants hosted the Eagles two weeks ago with not only a playoff spot on the line, but also, possibly, a division title. All the Giants did was continue their downward spiral of a season after losing to the Eagles. Now the Giants are seeking some Philadelphia freedom as they enter the first round of the playoffs, looking to avenge their late season swoon.
Over in the AFC, the Jets are looking for a similar fate as they travel to New England, a site where they recently came out victorious. The Patriots no doubt will be looking for redemption after losing to the Jets at home.
The Jets made the playoffs after controlling their own destiny down the stretch and winning games they were supposed to win.
The Pats, on the other hand, have flown under the radar and although they are not getting much national respect, appear to be ready to make another playoff run.
Both New York teams are looking to advance to the divisional round of the playoffs, however, the implications of a loss could be much more detrimental to the Giants, as the Jets are an up and coming team under their new coach, while the Giants fans, media, and pehaps, players, have grown tired of Tom Coughlin's disipline act.
Although neither team is expected to make it past next week's divisional round, a win this week could go a long way in legitamizing this season for the two teams out of New Jersey.
