Giants Win Super Bowl, Patriots Lose History, and Gamblers Make Money
The Super Bowl has been over for a couple of days now. That leaves time for everyone to sit back and process what exactly they saw on Sunday evening in Arizona.
The New York Giants emerged as Super Bowl champions. They defied the odds and pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the NFL. They proved that champions are born within, not from media hype.
The New England Patriots had the kind of opportunity that comes along sometimes only once in a lifetime. A chance to establish themselves alongside some of the greatest teams of all times. They crumbled under the immense pressure and now are left to wonder how they were manhandled by the Giants.
That leaves only the gamblers. For the first time in many years, the sports books took a beating last weekend. In the days leading up to the Super Bowl, one prominent head of a Las Vegas sports book stated that seventy five percent of bets on the game were going on the Giants.
So, the Giants and gamblers are the champions of this last game of the season. The Patriots and sports books will look to next year to regain their form and get revenge. The rest of us look forward to two words that have eluded us all winter. Play Ball!
