Harrison And Manning Play Football The Right Way
Back in the day, when football players went out and played the game without much emphasis on individual attention, the Baltimore Colts brought in moving vans in the middle of the night and relocated their team to Indianapolis. It is widely considered to be the most classless acts ever committed in the league.
Now, decades later, the team that broke the hearts of all the people of Baltimore is one game away from being NFL champions, and they are led by two of the games classiest players, quarterback Peyton Manning and wide receiver Marvin Harrison.
Manning is widely considered as the best quarterback in the NFL today. Although he takes frequent criticism for never leading his team to a Super Bowl win, he never once has crumbled under the media scrutiny and even uttered a negative word.
Instead he has constantly taken the high road and now gets the chance to answer his critics by winning the championship.
His partner in crime, receiver Marvin Harrison, is just as humble as Manning. One Indianapolis beat writer stopped by the podium on media day, "just so I could hear what his voice sounded like".
Neither Harrison or Manning are big on end zone celebrations, even though Harrison did spike the football in his game against the Patriots, an act Harrison insists, "will not happen again".
In a day and age in football where players are into marketing themselves with all their extra curricular celebrations, it is refereshing to see two players who achieve ultimate success and let other people tell them they are the best instead of marketing themselves and self promoting their abilities.
