Hurricanes and Seminoles Defeated, Florida Gators Prevail
The Miami Hurricanes and Florida State Seminoles, both ACC powerhouses, were beat in Saturday College Football action, while the University of Florida Gators hung on in the final moments to beat the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Miami Hurricanes, who came into Saturday's game with Louisville ranked #17, were handed a stunning defeat 31-7. The Hurricanes will likely be pushed out of the top 25 college football polls for the first time since 1999.
Florida State played Clemson in the Bowden Ball, a matchup of Father vs. Son coaches. Clemson used a last second score to oust the Seminoles 27-20, a team they have beat 3 out of the past 4 times. It was the first time Clemson had beaten Florida State in Tallahassee since 1989.
Meanwhile, the University of Florida Gators were busy taking on Tennessee in a top SEC showdown. The Gators prevailed 21-20 as Chris Leak hooked up with Dallas Baker on a 21-yard touchdown score that gave the Gators the lead for good. A late Tennessee interception thrown by Quarterback Erik Ainge dismantled the Volunteers comeback.
