In State Rivalries Bring Excitement To Week 3 Preseason Football

The preseason is too long and the games are relatively boring to the average fan, but this week things have a little bit of an extra importance, as teams from the same state are squaring off.

Tampa Bay and Miami play in South Florida for the right to be the king of the sunshine state, no offense to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In Washington, the Redskins will do battle with the Baltimore Ravens, who are currently coming off a tremendous season in which they won the AFC Central division.

In the battle of all battles, the spotlight is of course on New York, where the Giants and Jets get together in the Meadowlands. The Giants are technically the home team, but the Jets won't feel too out of place since they also play their home games at Giant stadium.

In Houston, the Cowboys and their traveling circus come into town to take on the Titans, who for the first time in their existence will start a season without David Carr as their quarterback. Matt Schaub will be the starter after the Texans pulled him away from Atlanta, a move that is surely hurting the Falcons these days.

There are also five other games on the Saturday schedule as Detroit plays Indianapolis, San Francisco takes on the Bears, Cleveland faces Denver, Minnesota plays Seattle, and Arizona hosts San Diego.
