Injuries May Alter NFL Betting Odds For Week Two
Week one of the NFL season is almost over with just one game remaining to finish, and already odds makers are having to make some adjustments for next week. Injuries to some key players will change the face of the betting odds in week two.
Donovan McNabb has had to deal with the media circus surrounding Michael Vick for all of training camp, and now he will steal the spotlight back this week. McNabb was injured this past week against Carolina, and his status for this weekend is up in the air.
While McNabb is holding out hope he could play, Philadelphia will be preparing as if he will not. Back-up quarterback Kevin Colb will be taking snaps with the first team in practice this week. If McNabb can not go, it will have a major effect on the gambling odds for the Eagles game Sunday.
Brian Urlacher will be another player that will certainly change betting odds this week. Urlacher is out for the season after dislocating his right wrist on Sunday night in Green Bay. His season ending injury is devastating to a team that was looking to make major strides this year.
"The injuries to guys that play key positions such as linebacker and quarterback are going to have a big impact on future betting odds," said Gaming Analyst Hal Brennen, "the odds makers already have a tough time handicapping games early in the year, and now it will be even harder."
